Columbus, Georgia – May, 2007: The National Infantry Foundation is pleased to announce that Synovus, Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T) and TSYS through the Synovus Foundation have jointly become one of the largest non-governmental supporters of the new National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park with a donation of $1.25 million.

"The Synovus family of companies have a long history of supporting our soldiers and their families. This donation by the Synovus Foundation is one more indication of their commitment to honoring those who've done so much to protect our freedoms," National Infantry Foundation Executive Director Ben Williams said.

"We are proud to support this project to honor the history of sacrifice by the soldiers who have served to protect our country, and this facility will continue to promote the freedoms they fought to preserve," said Richard Anthony, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Synovus.

"Our contribution to the museum will help ensure that future generations will be educated and enriched by the stories of courage and pride that are part of the rich heritage of the Infantry," added Calvin Smyre, Synovus' Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs and President of the Synovus Foundation.

The new museum is being built on a 200-acre site connecting Columbus and Fort Benning, the Home of the Infantry. Construction began in January; completion is expected in 2008.

Synovus (NYSE: SNV) is a diversified financial services holding company with more than $32 billion in assets based in Columbus, GA. Synovus provides integrated financial services including banking, financial management, insurance, mortgage and leasing services through 39 banks and other Synovus offices in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee; and electronic payment processing through an 81-percent stake in TSYS (NYSE: TSS), one of the world's largest companies for outsourced payment services. The National Infantry Foundation is conducting an $85 million fund raising campaign to build a new National Infantry Museum and Heritage Park on 200 acres linking Columbus, Georgia, and Fort Benning, the Home of the Infantry. The world-class facility will honor the 231-year legacy of valor and sacrifice of the Army’s largest branch, the Infantry.
