The mission of the National Infantry Museum is to collect, preserve,
document, research and interpret artifacts which are associated
with the legacy, evolution and contemporary life of the United States
Infantry for the education, enrichment and enjoyment of a broad
and diverse public and our United States Infantry and their family
members in two-way communication between the Army and the public
through the medium of the Museum.
Museum Vision Statement
The National Infantry Museum is a permanent historical and educational
public institution located at Fort Benning, Georgia, providing education
and training to soldiers and their family members and the general
public.
The Museum will cover all facets of the history of the United States
Infantry from its inception to the present, including:
- The origins and development of Fort Benning
- An overview of the United States Army
- Honoring the service and sacrifice of all U.S.
Infantrymen and personnel in protecting and preserving the National
Infantry Foundation
- Serving as the proponent of a sense of time,
place and belonging (esprit de corps) for the Infantry.
The Museum should serve as a forum for communicating to the public
issues of concern to the U.S. Military, its personnel and their
families. The National Infantry Museum should serve as a unique
source of information on military issues – past, present and
future – and contribute to American democracy through dialogue
and discourse.
