Ben Williams

Mr. Ben F. Williams, Jr., earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Marketing from Mississippi State University where
he was a Distinguished Military Graduate (Army ROTC). He served
in the US Army Finance Corps from 1967 to 1970 where he was promoted
to the rank of Captain. His duty assignments included Fort Benjamin
Harrison, Indiana, Seoul, Korea and Fort Lee, Virginia.
He began his professional career at Southern Bell
(1970-1983) where his last position held was District Manager. From
1983 to 1999 he worked at Columbus Bank & Trust where his last
position held was Executive Vice President. He retired in 1999.
In 2000 Ben became the Executive Director of the
National Infantry Foundation, Inc.
His past and present Community Activities include:
National Infantry Association, Board Member; National Infantry Foundation,
Board Member; Rotary Club of Columbus, Past President; Association
of the U.S. Army (AUSA), Past President; Better Business Bureau
of West Georgia and East Alabama, Past President; Boy Scouts of
America, Chattahoochee Council, Past President; Columbus Convention
& Visitors Bureau, Past President; Columbus State University
Athletic Board, Past President; Columbus High School PTA, Past President;
United Way of Columbus, Past Board Member & Treasurer; Columbus
Chamber of Commerce, Past Board Member.
Mr. Williams’ honors include: Columbus’
Outstanding Young Man of the Year, Columbus Jaycees; named one of
five Outstanding Men of the Year in Georgia, Georgia Jaycees; Silver
Beaver Award, Chattahoochee Council Boy Scouts of America; James
H. Blanchard Leadership Award (given annually to two individuals
of Synovus Financial Corporation); Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Club
of Columbus; Order of Saint Maurice, National Infantry Association.
Ben is a member of First Presbyterian Church,
Columbus, Georgia. He and his wife Rose Marie have two children,
Kim and Todd.
